Biography

I am a Jordanian humanitarian and accessibility practitioner who works at the intersection of disability rights, inclusive technology, and community development. My experience spans programmes with refugee youth, policy dialogue on disability inclusion, and collaborations that turn research into practical tools for everyday access. I also use competitive sport as a means for public education, building partnerships that demonstrate how design, training, and trust can widen participation. Across each context I serve, I strive to bridge communities, institutions, and technologies in ways that dismantle barriers and expand participation for those most often excluded.

From Youth Empowerment to Global Human Rights Practice

At UNICEF Jordan, I worked closely with both the youth sector and human resources to make sure inclusion was not just an idea but something that shaped daily practices I focused a lot on supporting refugee youth and young people with disabilities - making sure they were not only heard but also involved in building the programmes meant to help them.

I have had the opportunity to participate in several major OSCE events, including the 24th Alliance against Trafficking in Persons in Vienna, the Simulation-based training (OSCE) in Brühl, Germany, and the event “Out of the Shadows” addressing trafficking of persons belonging to minorities. I also contributed at the Global Disability Summit , each of these spaces gave me a chance to bring disability rights into serious, high-level discussions. In 2025, I also took part in the Mobile World Congress (MWC) Barcelona , the world’s largest and most influential connectivity event. My participation focused on advancing accessibility in digital innovation and showcasing how inclusive technology can drive social and economic transformation.

Running and Sports

My running story started back in Jordan in 2015, when I decided to take on the challenge of my first 10-kilometer road race. What started as a test of strength turned into something much more, a way to push my limits and show that being blind does not mean being left behind. Over time, I started improving my records, race after race, until I completed my first full marathon in 2018. Since then, I have participated in many major events, some of them multiple times. I have run the Amman Marathon, the Dead Sea Ultra Marathon and the Red Sea Half Marathon more times than I can count, and I have had the honour of breaking course records in the process.

Internationally, I have competed in hundreds of long-distance races and Paralympic running events across Asia, Europe, and North America, continuously pushing boundaries and breaking expectations. Highlights include: Beirut Marathon, Dubai Marathon, Malaysia Marathon, Padova Marathon, a challenging trail run in Belgium, and the iconic Chicago Marathon. Every finish line holds its own story. With each step, I challenge not only the world’s perceptions, but my own.

In 2025, I joined the Football for All Leadership Programme in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. It brought together leaders with disabilities from all over Asia and Oceania, and it was backed by the FIFA Foundation and Integrated Dreams.
This experience was not just about football,it was about building networks, sharing ideas, and creating real change through sport and inclusion.

Academic Work and Research

Alongside my global advocacy and extensive travels, I remain deeply committed to academic research and critical inquiry.
I am currently completing a Master’s degree in Human Rights at the University of Padova in Italy, building on a strong academic foundation established during my Bachelor’s studies in Italian and English at the University of Jordan.
My academic work focuses on several of the most urgent and underexplored human rights issues of our time.
I am currently conducting research and contributing to academic discussions in the following areas:
A comparative analysis of national Paralympic systems and how different countries support and integrate T11 blind athletes in competitive sports,
The trafficking and exploitation of persons with disabilities, with a focus on legal gaps and systemic failures in protection mechanisms,
The systematic and ongoing attempts of genocide being committed against the Palestinian people by Israeli forces, with particular attention to international law, accountability, and lived testimonies.
In parallel, I am actively exploring the role of emerging technologies, particularly artificial intelligence, in expanding accessibility, promoting equity, and strengthening autonomy for persons with disabilities around the world.
My work aims to bridge the gap between policy, lived experience, and technology, ensuring that innovation serves inclusion.

Accessibility and Digital Inclusion

I am a certified NVDA Expert User and Developer, and I dedicate a large part of my work to make digital environments more accessible for people with disabilities. I work directly with companies and technical teams that focus on accessibility, not just in theory, but in practice. Together, we design and build tools that are actually useful, reliable, and empowering for the people who depend on them every single day. With practical experience in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, I make sure that accessibility is never treated as an afterthought. It is built into the foundation of each project I contribute to, from the first line of code to the final product release. Over the years, I have had the chance to collaborate with several organisations that are doing important work in this space. These include:

Ashirase

Ashirase is a wearable navigation system designed to assist people with visual impairments.

Each of these collaborations has allowed me to contribute, learn, and advocate, not just for better products, but for a world where accessibility is understood, expected, and respected from the start.
